Then Laban said to Jacob, “Should you work for me for nothing because you are my relative? Tell me what your wages should be.”

She named him Joseph, saying, “May the Lord give me yet another son.”

But Esau said, “I have plenty, my brother. Keep what belongs to you.”

Shechem said to his father Hamor, “Acquire this young girl as my wife.”

He replied, “I’m looking for my brothers. Please tell me where they are grazing their flocks.”

Israel said, “Why did you bring this trouble on me by telling the man you had one more brother?”

“Then your servant my father said to us, ‘You know that my wife gave me two sons.

Jacob said, “Swear to me that you will do so.” So Joseph gave him his word. Then Israel bowed down at the head of his bed.

You are to tell your son on that day, ‘It is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

“Do not hold back offerings from your granaries or your vats. You must give me the firstborn of your sons.

“You are to anoint Aaron and his sons and sanctify them, so that they may minister as my priests.

And you are to tell the Israelites: ‘This is to be my sacred anointing oil throughout your generations.

So now, leave me alone so that my anger can burn against them and I can destroy them, and I will make from you a great nation.”

So I said to them, ‘Whoever has gold, break it off.’ So they gave it to me, and I threw it into the fire, and this calf came out.”

The Lord said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me – that person I will wipe out of my book.

“Every firstborn of the womb belongs to me, even every firstborn of your cattle that is a male, whether ox or sheep.

Then you are to clothe Aaron with the holy garments and anoint him and sanctify him so that he may minister as my priest.

then whoever owns the house must come and declare to the priest, ‘Something like an infection is visible to me in the house.’

The land must not be sold without reclaim because the land belongs to me, for you are foreigners and residents with me.
