Then a voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen One. Listen to him!”

But when Jesus discerned their innermost thoughts, he took a child, had him stand by his side,

If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”

Now some Sadducees (who contend that there is no resurrection) came to him.

They devour widows’ property, and as a show make long prayers. They will receive a more severe punishment.”

“Simon, Simon, pay attention! Satan has demanded to have you all, to sift you like wheat,

And we rightly so, for we are getting what we deserve for what we did, but this man has done nothing wrong.”

A Samaritan woman came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me some water to drink.”

This is the bread that has come down from heaven, so that a person may eat from it and not die.

When the feast was half over, Jesus went up to the temple courts and began to teach.

They replied, “You aren’t from Galilee too, are you? Investigate carefully and you will see that no prophet comes from Galilee!”

They will never follow a stranger, but will run away from him, because they do not recognize the stranger’s voice.”

So they prepared a dinner for Jesus there. Martha was serving, and Lazarus was among those present at the table with him.

So Simon Peter gestured to this disciple to ask Jesus who it was he was referring to.

They replied, “Jesus the Nazarene.” He told them, “I am he.” (Now Judas, the one who betrayed him, was standing there with them.)

Then Jesus asked them again, “Who are you looking for?” And they said, “Jesus the Nazarene.”

After he had said this, while they were watching, he was lifted up and a cloud hid him from their sight.

But the things God foretold long ago through all the prophets – that his Christ would suffer – he has fulfilled in this way.

But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could acquire God’s gift with money!

Then when the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, because he was greatly astounded at the teaching about the Lord.
