Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will grant you.”

Martha said, “I know that he will come back to life again in the resurrection at the last day.”

and the one who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believe, you would see the glory of God?”

So Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She has kept it for the day of my burial.

Jesus said, “This voice has not come for my benefit but for yours.

Then he came to Simon Peter. Peter said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”

Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!”

Everyone will know by this that you are my disciples – if you have love for one another.”

“Do not let your hearts be distressed. You believe in God; believe also in me.

“If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me first.

Now this happened to fulfill the word that is written in their law, ‘They hated me without reason.’

So they kept on repeating, “What is the meaning of what he says, ‘In a little while’? We do not understand what he is talking about.”

I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but that you keep them safe from the evil one.

They replied, “If this man were not a criminal, we would not have handed him over to you.”

Jesus replied, “Are you saying this on your own initiative, or have others told you about me?”

After this Jesus, realizing that by this time everything was completed, said (in order to fulfill the scripture), “I am thirsty!”
