Deborah said to Barak, &#8220;Spring into action,<n id="1" /> for this is the day the <sc>Lordsc> is handing Sisera over to you!<n id="2" /> Has the <sc>Lordsc> not taken the lead?&#8221;<n id="3" /> Barak quickly went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him.

Barak said to her, &#8220;If you go with me, I will go. But if you do not go with me, I will not go.&#8221;

Barak summoned men from Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh. Ten thousand men followed him;<n id="1" /> Deborah went up with him as well.

<p class="poetry">Issachar&#8217;s leaders were with Deborah,p> <p class="poetry">the men of Issachar<n id="1" /> supported<n id="2" /> Barak;p> <p class="poetry">into the valley they were sent under Barak&#8217;s command.<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">Among the clans of Reuben there was intense<n id="4" /> heart searching.<n id="5" />p>

<p class="bodytext">She summoned<n id="1" /> Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali. She said to him, &#8220;Is it not true that the <sc>Lordsc> God of Israel is commanding you? Go, march to Mount Tabor! Take with you ten thousand men from Naphtali and Zebulun!

She said, &#8220;I will indeed go with you. But you will not gain fame<n id="1" /> on the expedition you are undertaking,<n id="2" /> for the <sc>Lordsc> will turn Sisera over to a woman.&#8221;<n id="3" /> Deborah got up and went with Barak to Kedesh.

The <sc>Lordsc> routed<n id="1" /> Sisera, all his chariotry, and all his army with the edge of the sword.<n id="2" /> Sisera jumped out of<n id="3" /> his chariot and ran away on foot.

Now Barak chased the chariots and the army all the way to Harosheth Haggoyim. Sisera&#8217;s whole army died<n id="1" /> by the edge of the sword; not even one survived!<n id="2" />p>

Now Barak was chasing Sisera. Jael went out to welcome him. She said to him, &#8220;Come here and I will show you the man you are searching for.&#8221; He went with her into the tent,<n id="1" /> and there he saw Sisera sprawled out dead<n id="2" /> with the tent peg in his temple.p>
