For nation will rise up in arms ¹  against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines ²  and earthquakes ³  in various places.

and said, “Sir, we remember that while that deceiver was still alive he said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’

“Brother ¹  will hand over brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise against ²  parents and have them put to death.

so that you may be like ¹  your Father in heaven, since he causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

The queen of the South ¹  will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon – and now, ²  something greater than Solomon is here!

And many false prophets will appear and deceive ¹  many,

Get up, let us go. Look! My betrayer ¹  is approaching!”

The people ¹  of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented when Jonah preached to them ²  – and now, ³  something greater than Jonah is here!

saying, “Where is the one who is born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose ¹  and have come to worship him.”

saying, “Get up, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the child’s life are dead.”

and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged severely ¹  and crucified. ²  Yet ³  on the third day, he will be raised.”

For false messiahs ¹  and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

After listening to the king they left, and once again ¹  the star they saw when it rose ²  led them until it stopped above the place where the child was.

Then Herod ¹  privately summoned the wise men and determined from them when the star had appeared.

Which is easier, ¹  to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven’ or to say, ‘Stand up and walk’?

But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Do not be afraid.”

For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels ¹  in heaven.

The rain fell, the flood ¹  came, and the winds beat against that house, but it did not collapse because it had been founded on rock.

But so that you may know ¹  that the Son of Man ²  has authority on earth to forgive sins” – then he said to the paralytic ³  – “Stand up, take your stretcher, and go home.” ⁴ 

After they had gone, an ¹  angel of the Lord ²  appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod ³  is going to look for the child to kill him.”
