Then David instructed his men, “Each of you strap on your sword!” So each one strapped on his sword, and David also strapped on his sword. About four hundred men followed David up, while two hundred stayed behind with the equipment.p>

I also told them,<n id="1" /> &#8220;If they are really prophets and the <sc>Lordsc> is speaking to them,<n id="2" /> let them pray earnestly to the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all.<n id="3" /> Let them plead with him not to let the valuable articles that are still left in the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple, in the royal palace, and in Jerusalem be taken away<n id="4" /> to Babylon.

The bronze of the items that King Solomon made for the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple (including the two pillars, the large bronze basin called &#8220;The Sea,&#8221; the twelve bronze bulls under &#8220;The Sea,&#8221; and the movable stands<n id="1" />) was too heavy to be weighed.

The four tables for the burnt offering were of carved stone, 32 inches<n id="1" /> long, 32 inches<n id="2" /> wide, and 21 inches<n id="3" /> high. They would put the instruments which they used to slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice on them.

Now the Lord<n id="1" /> delivered<n id="2" /> King Jehoiakim of Judah into his power,<n id="3" /> along with some of the vessels<n id="4" /> of the temple of God.<n id="5" /> He brought them to the land of Babylonia<n id="6" /> to the temple of his god<n id="7" /> and put<n id="8" /> the vessels in the treasury of his god.p>

The sailors were so afraid that each cried out<n id="1" /> to his own god<n id="2" /> and they flung<n id="3" /> the ship&#8217;s cargo<n id="4" /> overboard<n id="5" /> to make the ship lighter.<n id="6" /> Jonah, meanwhile,<n id="7" /> had gone down<n id="8" /> into the hold<n id="9" /> below deck,<n id="10" /> had lain down, and was sound asleep.<n id="11" />

<p class="bodytext">The king ordered Hilkiah the high priest, the high-ranking priests,<n id="1" /> and the guards<n id="2" /> to bring out of the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple all the items that were used in the worship of<n id="3" /> Baal, Asherah, and all the stars of the sky.<n id="4" /> The king<n id="5" /> burned them outside of Jerusalem in the terraces<n id="6" /> of Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel.<n id="7" />
