Thus all Israel will hear and be afraid; no longer will they continue to do evil like this among you. ¹ 

Like you eat the gazelle or ibex, so you may eat these; the ritually impure and pure alike may eat them.

His people have been unfaithful ¹  to him; they have not acted like his children ²  – this is their sin. ³  They are a perverse ⁴  and deceitful generation.

Like an eagle that stirs up ¹  its nest, that hovers over its young, so the Lord ²  spread out his wings and took him, ³  he lifted him up on his pinions.

One must not take either lower or upper millstones as security on a loan, for that is like taking a life itself as security. ¹ 

In fact, what other great nation has a god so near to them like the Lord our God whenever we call on him?

You will feel your way along at noon like the blind person does in darkness and you will not succeed in anything you do; ¹  you will be constantly oppressed and continually robbed, with no one to save you.

so that your days and those of your descendants may be extended in the land which the Lord promised to give to your ancestors, like the days of heaven itself. ¹ 

The Lord ¹  found him ²  in a desolate land, in an empty wasteland where animals howl. ³  He continually guarded him ⁴  and taught him; ⁵  he continually protected him ⁶  like the pupil ⁷  of his eye.

I will sharpen my lightning-like sword, and my hand will grasp hold of the weapon of judgment; ¹  I will execute vengeance on my foes, and repay those who hate me! ² 

and in the desert, where you saw him ¹  carrying you along like a man carries his son. This he did everywhere you went until you came to this very place.”

Or has God ¹  ever before tried to deliver ²  a nation from the middle of another nation, accompanied by judgments, ³  signs, wonders, war, strength, power, ⁴  and other very terrifying things like the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes?

So all of you approached me and said, “Let’s send some men ahead of us to scout out the land and bring us back word as to how we should attack it and what the cities are like there.”

the men of her city must bring the young woman to the door of her father’s house and stone her to death, for she has done a disgraceful thing ¹  in Israel by behaving like a prostitute while living in her father’s house. In this way you will purge ²  evil from among you.

but the seventh day is the Sabbath ¹  of the Lord your God. On that day you must not do any work, you, your son, your daughter, your male slave, your female slave, your ox, your donkey, any other animal, or the foreigner who lives with you, ²  so that your male and female slaves, like yourself, may have rest.

any kind of land animal, any bird that flies in the sky,

anything that crawls ¹  on the ground, or any fish in the deep waters of the earth. ² 

These people, as well as the Anakites, are also considered Rephaites; ¹  the Moabites call them Emites.

The whole land will be covered with brimstone, salt, and burning debris; it will not be planted nor will it sprout or produce grass. It will resemble the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord destroyed in his intense anger. ¹
