But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief<n id="1" /> was coming, he would have been alert and would not have let his house be broken into.

Then he came to the disciples and said to them, &#8220;Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is approaching, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

<t /><p class="bodytext">While he was still speaking, Judas,<n id="1" /> one of the twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests and elders of the people.

Jesus said to him, &#8220;You have said it yourself. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man <i>sitting at the right handi><n id="1" /> of the Power<n id="2" /> and <i>coming on the clouds of heaveni>.&#8221;<n id="3" />

But the rest said, &#8220;Leave him alone! Let&#8217;s see if Elijah will come to save him.&#8221;<n id="1" />

So give orders to secure the tomb until the third day. Otherwise his disciples may come and steal his body<n id="1" /> and say to the people, &#8216;He has been raised from the dead,&#8217; and the last deception will be worse than the first.&#8221;

But as the man<n id="1" /> went out he began to announce it publicly and spread the story widely, so that Jesus<n id="2" /> was no longer able to enter any town openly but stayed outside in remote places. Still<n id="3" /> they kept coming<n id="4" /> to him from everywhere.p>

When Jesus heard this he said to them, &#8220;Those who are healthy don&#8217;t need a physician, but those who are sick do.<n id="1" /> I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.&#8221;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> John&#8217;s<n id="2" /> disciples and the Pharisees<n id="3" /> were fasting.<n id="4" /> So<n id="5" /> they came to Jesus<n id="6" /> and said, &#8220;Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don&#8217;t fast?&#8221;

These are the ones on the path where the word is sown: Whenever they hear, immediately Satan<n id="1" /> comes and snatches the word<n id="2" /> that was sown in them.

He said to them, &#8220;Come with me privately to an isolated place and rest a while&#8221; (for many were coming and going, and there was no time to eat).

He<n id="1" /> saw them straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. As the night was ending,<n id="2" /> he came to them walking on the sea,<n id="3" /> for<n id="4" /> he wanted to pass by them.<n id="5" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> called the crowd, along with his disciples, and said to them, &#8220;If anyone wants to become my follower,<n id="3" /> he must deny<n id="4" /> himself, take up his cross,<n id="5" /> and follow me.

And he said to them, &#8220;I tell you the truth,<n id="1" /> there are some standing here who will not<n id="2" /> experience<n id="3" /> death before they see the kingdom of God come with power.&#8221;<n id="4" />p>

He said to them, &#8220;Elijah does indeed come first, and restores all things. And why is it written that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be despised?

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> left that place and went to the region of Judea and<n id="3" /> beyond the Jordan River.<n id="4" /> Again crowds gathered to him, and again, as was his custom, he taught them.

But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, &#8220;Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.<n id="1" />

who will not receive in this age<n id="1" /> a hundred times as much &#8211; homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, fields, all with persecutions<n id="2" /> &#8211; and in the age to come, eternal life.<n id="3" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">They came to Jericho.<n id="1" /> As Jesus<n id="2" /> and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> they came to Jerusalem.<n id="2" /> Jesus<n id="3" /> entered the temple area<n id="4" /> and began to drive out those who were selling and buying in the temple courts.<n id="5" /> He turned over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves,
