“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.

I tell you the truth, ¹  you will never get out of there until you have paid the last penny! ² 

“It was said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a legal document.’ ¹ 

And a leper ¹  approached, and bowed low before him, saying, ²  “Lord, if ³  you are willing, you can make me clean.”

Jesus answered them, ¹  “Go tell John what you hear and see: ² 

When ¹  it was early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people plotted against Jesus to execute him.

(They ¹  came out of the tombs after his resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.)

He is not here, for he has been raised, ¹  just as he said. Come and see the place where he ²  was lying.

From that time on ¹  Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem ²  and suffer ³  many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, ⁴  and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

Do not give what is holy to dogs or throw your pearls before pigs; otherwise they will trample them under their feet and turn around and tear you to pieces. ¹ 

and he said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist. He has been raised from the dead! And because of this, miraculous powers are at work in him.”

How could you not understand that I was not speaking to you about bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!”

“If ¹  your brother ²  sins, ³  go and show him his fault ⁴  when the two of you are alone. If he listens to you, you have regained your brother.

But if he does not listen, take one or two others with you, so that at the testimony of two or three witnesses every matter may be established. ¹ 

And about five o’clock that afternoon ¹  he went out and found others standing around, and said to them, ‘Why are you standing here all day without work?’

When ¹  they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes back on him. Then ²  they led him away to crucify him.

He ¹  sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and look carefully for the child. When you find him, inform me so that I can go and worship him as well.”

As he was saying these things, a ruler came, bowed low before him, and said, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and she will live.”

The blind see, the ¹  lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news proclaimed to them.

How ¹  else can someone enter a strong man’s ²  house and steal his property, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can thoroughly plunder the house. ³
