<p class="bodytext">The<n id="1" /> apostles said to the Lord, &#8220;Increase our faith!&#8221;<n id="2" />

Those who heard this said, &#8220;Then<n id="1" /> who can be saved?&#8221;<n id="2" />

So those who were sent ahead found<n id="1" /> it exactly<n id="2" /> as he had told them.

They replied, &#8220;The Lord needs it.&#8221;

So<n id="1" /> he sent still a third. They even wounded this one, and threw him out.

They<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8220;Where do you want us to prepare<n id="2" /> it?&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> when the hour came, Jesus<n id="2" /> took his place at the table<n id="3" /> and the apostles joined<n id="4" /> him.

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;You are the ones who have remained<n id="1" /> with me in my trials.

But they kept on shouting,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Crucify, crucify<n id="2" /> him!&#8221;

The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine,<n id="1" />

(but their eyes were kept<n id="1" /> from recognizing<n id="2" /> him).<n id="3" />

Then<n id="1" /> the experts in the law<n id="2" /> and the Pharisees began to think<n id="3" /> to themselves,<n id="4" /> &#8220;Who is this man<n id="5" /> who is uttering blasphemies?<n id="6" /> Who can forgive sins but God alone?&#8221;

Those along the path are the ones who have heard; then the devil<n id="1" /> comes and takes away the word<n id="2" /> from their hearts, so that they may not believe<n id="3" /> and be saved.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Once<n id="1" /> when Jesus<n id="2" /> was praying<n id="3" /> by himself, and his disciples were nearby, he asked them,<n id="4" /> &#8220;Who do the crowds say that I am?&#8221;<n id="5" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now one<n id="1" /> day, as Jesus<n id="2" /> was teaching the people in the temple courts<n id="3" /> and proclaiming<n id="4" /> the gospel, the chief priests and the experts in the law<n id="5" /> with the elders came up<n id="6" />

Then<n id="1" /> the experts in the law<n id="2" /> and the chief priests wanted to arrest<n id="3" /> him that very hour, because they realized he had told this parable against them. But<n id="4" /> they were afraid of the people.p>

(Now<n id="1" /> all the people who heard this, even the tax collectors,<n id="2" /> acknowledged<n id="3" /> God&#8217;s justice, because they had been baptized<n id="4" /> with John&#8217;s baptism.

But<n id="1" /> those who were at the table<n id="2" /> with him began to say among themselves, &#8220;Who is this, who even forgives sins?&#8221;

So<n id="1" /> he was told, &#8220;Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.&#8221;

Her<n id="1" /> parents were astonished, but he ordered them to tell no one<n id="2" /> what had happened.p>
