The police officers reported these words to the magistrates. They were frightened when they heard Paul and Silas ¹  were Roman citizens ² 

and came ¹  and apologized to them. After ²  they brought them out, they asked them repeatedly ³  to leave the city.

And now, ¹  compelled ²  by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem ³  without knowing what will happen to me there, ⁴ 

I found he ¹  was accused with reference to controversial questions ²  about their law, but no charge against him deserved death or imprisonment. ³ 

Then Festus ¹  replied that Paul was being kept at Caesarea, ²  and he himself intended to go there ³  shortly.

and as they were leaving they said to one another, ¹  “This man is not doing anything deserving ²  death or imprisonment.”

But the centurion ¹  was more convinced ²  by the captain ³  and the ship’s owner than by what Paul said. ⁴ 

Then the commander ¹  of the temple guard ²  went with the officers ³  and brought the apostles ⁴  without the use of force ⁵  (for they were afraid of being stoned by the people). ⁶ 

Peter ¹  went out ²  and followed him; ³  he did not realize that what was happening through the angel was real, ⁴  but thought he was seeing a vision.

he said, “I will give you a hearing ¹  when your accusers arrive too.” Then ²  he ordered that Paul ³  be kept under guard in Herod’s palace. ⁴ 

Then Paul replied, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking ¹  my heart? For I am ready not only to be tied up, ²  but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

This man was seized ¹  by the Jews and they were about to kill him, ²  when I came up ³  with the detachment ⁴  and rescued him, because I had learned that he was ⁵  a Roman citizen. ⁶
