If<n id="1" /> he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. If<n id="2" /> he refuses to listen to the church, treat him like<n id="3" /> a Gentile<n id="4" /> or a tax collector.<n id="5" />p>

If anyone says anything to you, you are to say, &#8216;The Lord needs them,&#8217;<n id="1" /> and he will send them at once.&#8221;

They said to him, &#8220;He will utterly destroy those evil men! Then he will lease the vineyard to other tenants who will give him his portion at the harvest.&#8221;p>

The<n id="1" /> king was furious! He sent his soldiers, and they put those murderers to death<n id="2" /> and set their city<n id="3" /> on fire.

Therefore pay attention to what they tell you and do it. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they teach.<n id="1" />

They<n id="1" /> tie up heavy loads, hard to carry, and put them on men&#8217;s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing even to lift a finger to move them.

And you say, &#8216;If we had lived in the days of our ancestors,<n id="1" /> we would not have participated with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.&#8217;

But while they had gone to buy it, the bridegroom arrived, and those who were ready went inside with him to the wedding banquet. Then<n id="1" /> the door was shut.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to the disciples, &#8220;Sit here while I go over there and pray.&#8221;

So after they had assembled, Pilate said to them, &#8220;Whom do you want me to release for you, Jesus<n id="1" /> Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Christ?&#8221;<n id="2" />

Immediately<n id="1" /> one of them ran and got a sponge, filled it with sour wine,<n id="2" /> put it on a stick,<n id="3" /> and gave it to him to drink.

<t /><p class="bodytext">While<n id="1" /> they were going, some<n id="2" /> of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests everything that had happened.

As they came into the house and saw the child with Mary his mother, they bowed down<n id="1" /> and worshiped him. They opened their treasure boxes and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense,<n id="2" /> and myrrh.<n id="3" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Jesus<n id="1" /> went throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues,<n id="2" /> preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of disease and sickness among the people.

Thus whenever you do charitable giving,<n id="1" /> do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in synagogues<n id="2" /> and on streets so that people will praise them. I tell you the truth,<n id="3" /> they have their reward.

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray while standing in synagogues<n id="1" /> and on street corners so that people can see them. Truly I say to you, they have their reward.

Look at the birds in the sky:<n id="1" /> They do not sow, or reap, or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds<n id="2" /> them. Aren&#8217;t you more valuable<n id="3" /> than they are?

Do not give what is holy to dogs or throw your pearls before pigs; otherwise they will trample them under their feet and turn around and tear you to pieces.<n id="1" />p>

Just then<n id="1" /> some people<n id="2" /> brought to him a paralytic lying on a stretcher.<n id="3" /> When Jesus saw their<n id="4" /> faith, he said to the paralytic, &#8220;Have courage, son! Your sins are forgiven.&#8221;<n id="5" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then Jesus went throughout all the towns<n id="1" /> and villages, teaching in their synagogues,<n id="2" /> preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and sickness.<n id="3" />
