Then his lord called the first slave<n id="1" /> and said to him, &#8216;Evil slave! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me!

<p class="bodytext">Then some Pharisees<n id="1" /> came to him in order to test him. They asked, &#8220;Is it lawful<n id="2" /> to divorce a wife for any cause?&#8221;<n id="3" />

The<n id="1" /> disciples said to him, &#8220;If this is the case of a husband with a wife, it is better not to marry!&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then little children were brought to him for him to lay his hands on them and pray.<n id="1" /> But the disciples scolded those who brought them.<n id="2" />

&#8220;Which ones?&#8221; he asked. Jesus replied, &#8220;<b><i>Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,i>b>

Then Peter said<n id="1" /> to him, &#8220;Look,<n id="2" /> we have left everything to follow you!<n id="3" /> What then will there be for us?&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with her sons, and kneeling down she asked him for a favor.<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> as Jesus was going out of the temple courts and walking away, his disciples came to show him the temple buildings.<n id="2" />

Then the righteous will answer him,<n id="1" /> &#8216;Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

and said, &#8220;What will you give me to betray him into your hands?&#8221;<n id="1" /> So they set out thirty silver coins for him.

Then<n id="1" /> Judas, the one who would betray him, said, &#8220;Surely not I, Rabbi?&#8221; Jesus<n id="2" /> replied, &#8220;You have said it yourself.&#8221;p>

Jesus said to him, &#8220;I tell you the truth,<n id="1" /> on this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.&#8221;

Peter said to him, &#8220;Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you.&#8221; And all the disciples said the same thing.p>

Jesus<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8220;Friend, do what you are here to do.&#8221; Then they came and took hold<n id="2" /> of Jesus and arrested him.

Then Jesus said to him, &#8220;Put your sword back in its place!<n id="1" /> For all who take hold of the sword will die by the sword.

But Peter was following him from a distance, all the way to the high priest&#8217;s courtyard. After<n id="1" /> going in, he sat with the guards<n id="2" /> to see the outcome.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. A<n id="1" /> slave girl<n id="2" /> came to him and said, &#8220;You also were with Jesus the Galilean.&#8221;

When<n id="1" /> they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes back on him. Then<n id="2" /> they led him away to crucify him.p>

Many<n id="1" /> women who had followed Jesus from Galilee and given him support<n id="2" /> were also there, watching from a distance.

But<n id="1" /> Jesus met them, saying, &#8220;Greetings!&#8221; They<n id="2" /> came to him, held on to his feet and worshiped him.
