So Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord. He then gathered seventy men of the elders of the people and had them stand around the tabernacle.

The people traveled from Kibroth Hattaavah to Hazeroth, and they stayed at Hazeroth.

After that the people moved from Hazeroth and camped in the wilderness of Paran.

These women invited ¹  the people to the sacrifices of their gods; then the people ate and bowed down to their gods. ² 

When the people cried to Moses, he ¹  prayed to the Lord, and the fire died out. ² 

I am not able to bear this entire people alone, ¹  because it ²  is too heavy for me!

¹ Then all the community raised a loud cry, ²  and the people wept ³  that night.

When Moses told ¹  these things to all the Israelites, the people mourned ²  greatly.

And the whole community ¹  of the Israelites and the resident foreigner who lives among them will be forgiven, since all the people were involved in the unintentional offense.

The people contended ¹  with Moses, saying, ²  “If only ³  we had died when our brothers died before the Lord!

The well which the princes ¹  dug, which the leaders of the people opened with their scepters and their staffs.” And from the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;

¹ When ²  Israel lived in Shittim, the people began to commit sexual immorality ³  with the daughters of Moab.

For if you turn away from following him, he will once again abandon ¹  them in the wilderness, and you will be the reason for their destruction.” ² 

Then the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you. Pray to the Lord that he would take away ¹  the snakes from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.

¹ When the people complained, ²  it displeased ³  the Lord. When the Lord heard ⁴  it, his anger burned, ⁵  and so ⁶  the fire of the Lord ⁷  burned among them and consumed some of the outer parts of the camp.

And the people went about and gathered it, and ground it with mills or pounded it in mortars; they baked it in pans and made cakes of it. It tasted like fresh olive oil. ¹ 

¹ Moses heard the people weeping ²  throughout their families, everyone at the door of his tent; and when the anger of the Lord was kindled greatly, Moses was also displeased. ³ 

From where shall I get ¹  meat to give to this entire people, for they cry to me, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat!’ ² 

Moses said, “The people around me ¹  are 600,000 on foot; ²  but you say, ‘I will give them meat, ³  that they may eat ⁴  for a whole month.’

So the name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah, ¹  because there they buried the people that craved different food. ²
