What is the significance of sitting at the right hand of God?

The conceptwhich is thoroughly Jewish and developed in the intertestamental period (cf. 1 Enoch)of "sitting at the right hand" indicates authority from and special privileged access to God. This is essentially what the Sanhedrin got so "bent out of shape" over in the inquisition of Jesus in ark 14:61ff. It was blasphemous to claim to sit at the right hand of God. It is almost equivalent to claiming divine prerogative.
