1 Kings 19:9-10

19:9 He went into a cave there and spent the night. All of a sudden the Lord spoke to him, “Why are you here, Elijah?” 19:10 He answered, “I have been absolutely loyal ¹  to the Lord, the sovereign God, ²  even though the Israelites have abandoned the agreement they made with you, ³  torn down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left and now they want to take my life.” ⁴ 

Isaiah 62:1

The Lord Takes Delight in Zion

62:1 “For the sake of Zion I will not be silent;

for the sake of Jerusalem ⁵  I will not be quiet,

until her vindication shines brightly ⁶ 

and her deliverance burns like a torch.”

Isaiah 62:6-7

62:6 I ⁷  post watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;

they should keep praying all day and all night. ⁸ 

You who pray to ⁹  the Lord, don’t be silent!

62:7 Don’t allow him to rest until he reestablishes Jerusalem, ¹⁰ 

until he makes Jerusalem the pride ¹¹  of the earth.

[19:10]  ¹ tn Or “very zealous.” The infinitive absolute preceding the finite verb emphasizes the degree of his zeal and allegiance.
