[12:1]  1 tn Or “in that day” (KJV).

[106:47]  2 tn Heb “to give thanks.” The infinitive construct indicates result after the imperative.

[106:47]  3 tn Heb “to boast in your praise.”

[106:48]  4 tn Heb “[be] blessed.” See Pss 18:46; 28:6; 31:21.

[106:48]  5 tn Heb “from everlasting to everlasting.”

[106:48]  6 tn Heb “surely” (אָמֵן, ’amen), traditionally transliterated “amen.”

[106:48]  7 sn The final verse (v. 48) is a conclusion to this fourth “book” (or major editorial division) of the Psalter. Similar statements appear at or near the end of each of the first, second and third “books” of the Psalter (see Pss 41:13; 72:18-19; 89:52, respectively).

[113:1]  8 sn Psalm 113. The psalmist praises God as the sovereign king of the world who reaches down to help the needy.

[113:3]  9 tn Heb “from the rising of the sun to its setting.” The extent is not temporal (“from sunrise to sunset”) but spatial (“from the place where the sun rises [the east] to the place where it sets [the west].” In the phenomenological language of OT cosmology, the sun was described as rising in the east and setting in the west.

[117:1]  10 sn Psalm 117. The psalmist tells the nations to praise the Lord for his loyal love and faithfulness.

[117:1]  11 tn Or “peoples” (see Ps 108:3).

[117:2]  12 tn For this sense of the Hebrew verb גָּבַר (gavar), see Ps 103:11 and L. C. Allen, Psalms 101-150 (WBC), 17, 19.
