O Lord, our heav’nly King,
Thy Name is all divine;
Thy glories round the earth are spread,
And o’er the heav’ns they shine.When to Thy works on high
I raise my wond’ring eyes,
I see the moon, complete in light,
Adorn the darksome skies.When I survey the stars,
And all their shining forms,
Lord, what is man, that worthless thing,
Akin to dust and worms?Lord, what is worthless man,
That Thou shouldst love him so?
Next to Thine angels he is placed,
And lord of all below.Thine honors crown his head,
While beasts, like slaves, obey;
And birds that cut the air with wings,
And fish that cleave the sea.How rich Thy bounties are!
And wondrous are Thy ways;
Of dust and worms Thy power can frame

Surprising honors to Thy Name

Thy glory Thou hast spread afar
In all the starry frame.From lips of children, Thou, O Lord,
Hast mighty strength ordained,
That adversaries should be stilled
And vengeful foes restrained.When I regard the wondrous heavens,
Thy handiwork on high,
The moon and stars ordained by Thee,
Oh, what is man! I cry.Oh, what is man, in Thy regard
To hold so large a place!
And what the son of man, that Thou
Dost visit him in grace!For Thou hast made him little less
Than Thy blest angels be;
With honor Thou hast crowned his head
And glorious dignity.On man Thy wisdom hath bestowed
A pow’r well nigh divine;
With honor Thou hast crowned his head
With glory like to Thine.Thou hast subjected all to him,
And lord of all is he,
Of flocks and herds, and beasts and birds,

With the window open wide,
And the foe so near,
Daniel bows before his God,

If, like him, to God we’re faithful,
He’ll bring us safely through.Hark! the voice of prayer and praise,
Full of joy and peace;
King’s decree and lion’s den

Daniel sweetly sleeps;
While the guardian angel there,

God is watching o’er His own,

Do you see the Hebrew captive kneeling,
At morning, noon and night, to pray?
In his chamber he remembers Zion,
Though in exile far away.Refrain
Are your windows open toward Jerusalem,
Though as captives here, a “little while” we stay?
For the coming of the King in His glory
Are you watching day by day?Refrain
Do not fear to tread the fiery furnace,
Nor shrink the lion’s den to share;
For the God of Daniel will deliver,
