Is the most correct way to render Gods name in English JHVH rather than Yahweh and/or LORD?

While the Hebrew of the OT is certainly a consonantal language, vowel pointings were later added to the Massoretic text to aid in pronunciation since vowel sounds are naturally used anyway when the language is spoken. Even though this name was not spoken by the Jews and they substituted Adonai in its place, most Hebrew scholars believe that either Adonai or Yahweh is a good and legitimate way to write this name of God. But since this carries little or no meaning for most people, most newer translations have sought to use the word "LORD" to convey the concept of God's sovereign independence which is certainly contained in the word along with other elements.
