Next proceeded the standard of Reuben, having under it the tribes of Simeon and Gad, Num 10:19; as "Reuben" signifies, "behold the son", and he had the tabernacle borne before him and the holy things behind him, which way soever this camp looked, it had in view what was a type of Christ the Son of God, the object of faith, the ark.
