NET Glossary: a Greek translation of the Hebrew Old Testament produced around A.D. 180 by Theodotion, a Jewish proselyte from Asia Minor; he used a Hebrew text closer to the later Masoretic tradition than the Hebrew text behind the LXX, and his version of the book of Daniel came to replace the LXX version, possibly due to the influence of Origen
