brachen. [OE. brache a kind of scenting hound or setting dog, OF. brache, F. braque, fr. OHG. braccho, G. bracke; related to Sw. brack a dog that hunts by scent; possibly akin to E. fragrant, fr. L. fragrare to smell.].
