lithophysen. [Litho- + Gr. a flatus, air bubble.].
     A spherulitic cavity often with concentric chambers, observed in some volcanic rocks, as in rhyolitic lavas. It is supposed to be produced by expanding gas, whence the name.  [1913 Webster]
