Genesis 17:1--27:46
-
[Gen 18:3] Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior
Pass me not, O gentle Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.Refrain
Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.Let me at Thy throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief,
Kneeling there in deep contrition;
Help my unbelief.Refrain
Trusting only in Thy merit,
Would I seek Thy face;
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
Save me by Thy grace.Refrain
Thou the Spring of all my comfort,
More than life to me,
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in Heav’n but Thee?Refrain

[Gen 18:19] Father Of All, Thy Care We Bless
Father of all, Thy care we bless,
Which crowns our families with peace;
From Thee they spring, and by Thy hand
They are, and shall be still sustained.To God, most worthy to be praised,
Be our domestic altars raised;
Who, Lord of Heaven, yet deigns to come
And sanctify our humblest home.To Thee may each united house
Morning and night present its vows;
Our servants there, and rising race
Be taught Thy precepts and Thy grace.So may each future age proclaim
The honors of Thy glorious Name,
And each succeeding race remove
To join the family above.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Gen 18:25] Whate’er My God Ordains Is Right
Whate’er my God ordains is right:
His holy will abideth;
I will be still whate’er He doth;
And follow where He guideth;
He is my God; though dark my road,
He holds me that I shall not fall:
Wherefore to Him I leave it all.Whate’er my God ordains is right:
He never will deceive me;
He leads me by the proper path:
I know He will not leave me.
I take, content, what He hath sent;
His hand can turn my griefs away,
And patiently I wait His day.Whate’er my God ordains is right:
His loving thought attends me;
No poison can be in the cup
That my Physician sends me.
My God is true; each morn anew
I’ll trust His grace unending,
My life to Him commending.Whate’er my God ordains is right:
He is my Friend and Father;
He suffers naught to do me harm,
Though many storms may gather,
Now I may know both joy and woe,
Some day I shall see clearly
That He hath loved me dearly.Whate’er my God ordains is right:
Though now this cup, in drinking,
May bitter seem to my faint heart,
I take it, all unshrinking.
My God is true; each morn anew
Sweet comfort yet shall fill my heart,
And pain and sorrow shall depart.Whate’er my God ordains is right:
Here shall my stand be taken;
Though sorrow, need, or death be mine,
Yet I am not forsaken.
My Father’s care is round me there;
He holds me that I shall not fall:
And so to Him I leave it all.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Gen 19:17] Haste, Traveler, Haste!
Haste, traveler, haste! the night comes on,
And many a shining hour is gone;
The storm is gathering in the west,
And thou art from home and rest.O far from home thy footsteps stray;
Christ is the life, and Christ the way,
And Christ the light; thy setting sun
Sinks ere thy morning is begun.Awake, awake! pursue thy way
With steady course, while yet ’tis day;
While thou art sleeping on the ground,
Danger and darkness gather round.The rising tempest sweeps the sky;
The rains descend, the winds are high;
The waters swell, and death and fear
Beset thy path, nor refuge near.O yes! a shelter you may gain,
A covert from the wind and the rain,
A hiding-place a rest, a home,
A refuge from the wrath to come.Then linger not in all the plain,
Flee for thy life, the mountain gain;
Look not behind, make no delay,
O speed thee, speed thee on thy way!Poor, lost, benighted soul! art thou
Wiling to find salvation now?
There yet is hope; hear mercy’s call:
Truth! Life! Light! Way! in Christ is all!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Gen 21:19] Open Mine Eyes
Open mine eyes, dear Savior,
I thirst in the noontide heat,
I pine for refreshing waters
That murmur so cool and sweet.Refrain
Open mine eyes, dear Savior, now,
Open mine eyes to see
The well of Thy full salvation
That sparkles and flows for me.Open mine eyes, dear Savior,
I faint ’neath the burning sky,
And here, in a lonely desert,
For water in vain I cry.Refrain
Open mine eyes, dear Savior,
I know that the well is near;
But O that my strength were stronger,
Its mission more bright and clear.Refrain
Whence is the voice that calleth?
And what do mine eyes behold?
O Savior, my prayer is answered,
’Tis answered a hundred fold.Praise to Thy Name, dear Savior mine,
Joyfully now I see
The well of Thy full salvation
That sparkles and flows for me.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Gen 22:8] Though Troubles Assail Us
Though troubles assail us and dangers affright,
Though friends should all fail us and foes all unite,
Yet one thing secures us, whatever betide,
The promise assures us, “The Lord will provide.”The birds, without garner or storehouse, are fed;
From them let us learn to trust God for our bread.
His saints what is fitting shall ne’er be denied
So long as ’tis written, “The Lord will provide.”When Satan assails us to stop up our path,
And courage all fails us, we triumph by faith.
He cannot take from us, though oft he has tried,
This heart cheering promise, “The Lord will provide.”He tells us we’re weak, our hope is in vain,
The good that we seek we never shall obtain,
But when such suggestions, our graces have tried,
This answers all questions, “The Lord will provide.”No strength of our own and no goodness we claim;
Yet, since we have known of the Savior’s great Name,
In this our strong tower for safety we hide:
The Lord is our power, “The Lord will provide.”When life sinks apace, and death is in view,
The word of His grace shall comfort us through,
Not fearing or doubting, with Christ on our side,
We hope to die shouting, “The Lord will provide.”Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Gen 22:13] The Saints Should Never Be Dismayed
The saints should never be dismayed,
Nor sink in hopeless fear;
For when they least expect His aid,
The Savior will appear.This Abr’am found: he raised the knife;
God saw, and said, “Forbear!
Yon ram shall yield his meaner life;
Behold the victim there.”Once David seemed Saul’s certain prey;
But hark! the foe’s at hand;
Saul turns his arms another way,
To save th’invaded land.When Jonah sunk beneath the wave,
He thought to rise no more;
But God prepared a fish to save,
And bear him to the shore.Blest proofs of power and grace divine,
That meet us in His Word!
May every deep felt care of mine
Be trusted with the Lord.Wait for His seasonable aid,
And though it tarry, wait:
The promise may be long delayed,
But cannot come too late.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Gen 24:31] Welcome, One And All
We are gathered today in our Sunday school,
With our hearts full of grateful praise;
We rejoice, we rejoice, as we hither come,
That the Lord doth direct our ways.Refrain
We would join in the song of welcome:
Welcome one and all today!
Let us strive with our might e’er to do the right,
And to seek for the lambs astray.We would go forth with zeal in our Master’s Name,
And would bring many wand’rers in;
We would tell them of Christ, who from glory came,
E’en to save them from death and sin.Refrain
One and all with a will let us work today,
To restore to the Lord His own;
Leading souls to the bright and the shining way,
Serving Jesus, and Him alone.Refrain

[Gen 24:56] In All My Lord’s Appointed Ways
In all my Lord’s appointed ways
My journey I’ll pursue;
Hinder me not! ye much loved saints,
For I must go with you.Through floods and flames, if Jesus lead,
I’ll follow where He goes;
Hinder me not! shall be my cry,
Though earth and hell oppose.Through duty, and through trials too,
I’ll go at His command;
Hinder me not! for I am bound
To my Immanuel’s land.And when my Savior calls me home,
Still this my cry shall be,
Hinder me not! come, welcome death;
I’ll gladly go with Thee!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Gen 27:34] Poor Esau Repented Too Late
Poor Esau repented too late
That once he his birth-right despised;
And sold, for a morsel of meat,
What could not too highly be prized:
How great was his anguish when told,
The blessing he sought to obtain,
Was gone with the birth-right he sold,
And none could recall it again!He stands as a warning to all,
Wherever the Gospel shall come;
O hasten and yield to the call,
While yet for repentance there’s room!
Your season will quickly be past,
Then hear and obey it today;
Lest when you seek mercy at last,
The Savior should frown you away.What is it the world can propose?
A morsel of meat at the best!
For this are you willing to lose
A share in the joys of the blest?
Its pleasures will speedily end,
Its favor and praise are but breath;
And what can its profits befriend
Your soul in the moment of death?If Jesus for these you despise,
And sin to the Savior prefer;
In vain your entreaties and cries,
When summoned to stand at His bar:
How will you His presence abide?
What anguish will torture your heart?
The saints all enthroned by His side,
And you be compelled to depart.Too often, dear Savior, have I
Preferred some poor trifle to Thee;
How is it Thou dost not deny
The blessing and birth-right to me?
No better than Esau I am,
Though pardon and Heaven be mine;
To me belongs nothing but shame,
The praise and the glory be Thine.Play source: Cyberhymnal
