1 Chronicles 12:19

12:19 Some men from Manasseh joined ¹  David when he went with the Philistines to fight against Saul. (But in the end they did not help the Philistines because, after taking counsel, the Philistine lords sent David away, saying: “It would be disastrous for us if he deserts to his master Saul.”) ² 

1 Chronicles 28:4

28:4 The Lord God of Israel chose me out of my father’s entire family to become king over Israel and have a permanent dynasty. ³  Indeed, ⁴  he chose Judah as leader, and my father’s family within Judah, and then he picked me out from among my father’s sons and made me king over all Israel. ⁵ 

[12:19]  ¹ tn Heb “fell upon,” here in a good sense.

[12:19]  ² tn Heb “and they did not help them for by counsel they sent him away, the lords of the Philistines, saying, ‘With our heads he will fall to his master Saul.’”

[28:4]  ³ tn Heb “out of all the house of my father to become king over all Israel permanently.”

[28:4]  ⁵ tn Heb “and among the sons of my father he desired to make me king over all Israel.”
