I will hand them over to you!” 14:11 So they marched against Baal Perazim and David defeated them there. David said, “Using me as his instrument, 1  God has burst out against my enemies like water bursts out.” So that place is called Baal Perazim. 2

[14:11]  1 tn Heb “by my hand.”

[14:11]  2 sn The name Baal Perazim means “Lord of outbursts” in Hebrew.

[22:18]  1 tn The words “he told them” are added in the translation for clarity and for stylistic reasons.

[22:18]  2 tn In the Hebrew text the statement is phrased as a rhetorical question, “Is not the Lord your God with you?” The question anticipates the response, “Of course he is!” Thus in the translation the positive statement “The Lord your God is with you!” has been used.

[22:18]  3 tn Heb “and he gives rest to you all around.”

[22:18]  4 tn Or “earth.”

[22:18]  5 tn Or “earth.”
