[2:6] 1 tc Many medieval Hebrew
[3:9] 2 sn See the note on the word “concubine” in 1:32.
[8:38] 3 tc The Hebrew text has בֹּכְרוּ (bokhÿru), which some understand as a name: “Bocheru” (so, e.g., NEB, NASB, NIV, NRSV). But the form should probably be revocalized בְּכֹרוֹ (bÿkhoru, “his firstborn”). A name has accidentally dropped from the list, and a scribe apparently read בֹּכְרוּ as one of the names.
[8:38] 4 tc The Lucianic recension of the LXX inserts another name here, καὶ Ἀζαριας (kai Azarias, “and Azariah”), presumably to make up the six sons mentioned at the beginning of the verse (see the previous tc note on “firstborn”). Cf. NAB.
[11:4] 5 sn Jebus was an older name for the city of Jerusalem (cf. Josh 15:8; Judg 1:21).
[11:4] 6 tn Heb “and there [were] the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land.”
[12:15] 5 tn The word “River” is not in the Hebrew text, but has been supplied for clarity.
[12:15] 6 sn That is, March-April.
[12:15] 7 tn Heb “and they chased all the valleys to the east and to the west.”
[16:23] 6 tn Heb “from day to day.”
[29:11] 7 tn The words “and sovereign” are added in the translation for clarification and for stylistic reasons.
