[24:29]  1 tc The Hebrew text has, “Belonging to [i.e., from] Kish, the sons of Kish, Jerahmeel.” There appears to be a conflation of headings.

[8:30]  2 tc Some LXX mss add “Ner” here (cf. 1 Chr 9:36 and v. 33 below, where Ner is mentioned as the father of Kish). The form וְנֵר (vÿner) could have been accidentally omitted by homoioarcton since each name in the list has the conjunction prefixed to it. Some English versions follow the LXX here and add “Ner” (e.g., NAB, NIV, NLT).

[8:33]  3 sn Eshbaal is called “Ishbosheth” in 2 Sam 2:8.

[9:39]  4 sn Eshbaal is called “Ishbosheth” in 2 Sam 2:8.

[12:1]  5 tn Heb “kept from.”

[23:22]  6 tn Heb “the sons of Kish, their brothers [i.e., relatives/cousins] lifted them up.” For other uses of נָאָשׂ (naas, “lift up”) in the sense of “marry,” see BDB 671 s.v. Qal.3.d.

[26:28]  7 tn Or “seer.”
