28:7 I will establish his kingdom permanently, if he remains committed to obeying my commands and regulations, as you are doing this day.’ ¹ 

1 Chronicles 17:11

17:11 When the time comes for you to die, ²  I will raise up your descendant, ³  one of your own sons, to succeed you, and I will establish his kingdom.

1 Chronicles 22:10

22:10 He will build a temple to honor me; ⁴  he will become my son, and I will become his father. I will grant to his dynasty permanent rule over Israel.’ ⁵ 

1 Chronicles 28:2

28:2 King David rose to his feet and said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I wanted to build a temple where the ark of the Lord’s covenant could be placed as a footstool for our God. ⁶  I have made the preparations for building it.

[17:11]  ² tn Heb “and it will be when your days are full to go with your ancestors.”

[28:2]  ⁴ tn Heb “I, with my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord and for a stool of the feet of our God.”
