4:10 Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only 1  you would greatly bless me and expand my territory! May your hand be with me! Keep me from harm so I might not endure pain!” 2  God answered his prayer. 3

Context

21:15 God sent an angel 4  to ravage 5  Jerusalem. As he was doing so, 6  the Lord watched 7  and relented from 8  his judgment. 9  He told the angel who was destroying, “That’s enough! 10  Stop now!” 11 

Now the Lord’s angel was standing near the threshing floor of Ornan 12  the Jebusite.

21:17 David said to God, “Was I not the one who decided to number the army? I am the one who sinned and committed this awful deed! 13  As for these sheep – what have they done? O Lord my God, attack me and my family, 14  but remove the plague from your people!” 15
