4:10 Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only ¹  you would greatly bless me and expand my territory! May your hand be with me! Keep me from harm so I might not endure pain!” ²  God answered his prayer. ³

Reuben’s Descendants

5:1 The sons of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn –

(Now he was the firstborn, but when he defiled his father’s bed, ⁴  his rights as firstborn were given to the sons of Joseph, Israel’s son. So Reuben is not listed as firstborn in the genealogical records. ⁵ 

1 Chronicles 6:49

6:49 But Aaron and his descendants offered sacrifices on the altar for burnt offerings and on the altar for incense as they had been assigned to do in the most holy sanctuary. ⁶  They made atonement for Israel, just as God’s servant Moses had ordered. ⁷ 

1 Chronicles 12:17

12:17 David went out to meet them and said, ⁸  “If you come to me in peace and want to help me, then I will make an alliance with you. ⁹  But if you come to betray me to my enemies when I have not harmed you, ¹⁰  may the God of our ancestors ¹¹  take notice and judge!”
