Context

7:40 All these were the descendants of Asher. They were the leaders of their families, the most capable men, who were warriors and served as head chiefs. There were 26,000 warriors listed in their genealogical records as capable of doing battle. 4

[9:22]  1 tn The Hebrew term is רֹאֶה (roeh, “seer”), an older word for נָבִיא (navi’, “prophet”).

[9:22]  2 tn Heb “they – David appointed, and Samuel the seer, in their position.”

[16:41]  3 tn Perhaps this refers to the refrain of their songs of praise (see Ps 136). In this case one could translate, “to give thanks to the Lord with songs using the refrain, ‘For his loyal love endures.’”

[7:40]  5 tn Heb “all these were the sons of Asher, heads of the house of the fathers, selected, warriors, heads of the leaders, and there was listed in the genealogical records in war, in battle, their number, men, 26,000.”
