[1:7]  ¹ sn The revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ refers to the Lord’s return, when he will be revealed (cf. the reference to the day of our Lord Jesus Christ in v. 8).

[1:23]  ² tn Or “Messiah”; Grk “preach Christ [Messiah] crucified,” giving the content of the message.

[3:16]  ³ sn You are God’s temple refers here to the church, since the pronoun you is plural in the Greek text. (In 6:19 the same imagery is used in a different context to refer to the individual believer.)

[10:18]  ⁴ tn Grk “Israel according to (the) flesh.”

[11:29]  ⁵ tn The word more literally means, “judging between, recognizing, distinguishing.”

[12:31]  ⁶ tn Grk “a still more excellent way.” In this context the phrase has an elative rather than a comparative sense, however.

[15:23]  ⁷ tn Grk “then those who belong to Christ, at his coming.”
