1 Corinthians 3:16-17

3:16 Do you not know that you are God’s temple ¹  and that God’s Spirit lives in you? 3:17 If someone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, which is what you are.

1 Corinthians 6:19

6:19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, ²  whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

[3:16]  ¹ sn You are God’s temple refers here to the church, since the pronoun you is plural in the Greek text. (In 6:19 the same imagery is used in a different context to refer to the individual believer.)

[6:19]  ² tn Grk “the ‘in you’ Holy Spirit.” The position of the prepositional phrase ἐν ὑμῖν (en Jumin, “in you”) between the article and the adjective effectively places the prepositional phrase in first attributive position. Such constructions are generally translated into English as relative clauses.
