1 Corinthians 7:7
Context7:7 I wish that everyone was as I am. But each has his own gift from God, one this way, another that.
Matthew 19:12
Context19:12 For there are some eunuchs who were that way from birth, 1 and some who were made eunuchs 2 by others, 3 and some who became eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who is able to accept this should accept it.”
Romans 12:3-8
Context12:3 For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you 4 a measure of faith. 5 12:4 For just as in one body we have many members, and not all the members serve the same function, 12:5 so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another. 12:6 And we have different gifts 6 according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith. 12:7 If it is service, he must serve; if it is teaching, he must teach; 12:8 if it is exhortation, he must exhort; if it is contributing, he must do so with sincerity; if it is leadership, he must do so with diligence; if it is showing mercy, he must do so with cheerfulness.
Romans 12:1
Context12:1 Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, 7 by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice – alive, holy, and pleasing to God 8 – which is your reasonable service.
Romans 4:10-11
Context4:10 How then was it credited to him? Was he circumcised at the time, or not? No, he was not circumcised but uncircumcised! 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised, 9 so that he would become 10 the father of all those who believe but have never been circumcised, 11 that they too could have righteousness credited to them.
[19:12] 1 tn Grk “from the womb of the mother” (an idiom).
[19:12] 2 tn The verb εὐνουχίζω occurs twice in this verse, translated the first time as “made eunuchs” and the second time as “became eunuchs.” The term literally refers to castration. The second occurrence of the word in this verse is most likely figurative, though, referring to those who willingly maintain a life of celibacy for the furtherance of the kingdom (see W. D. Davies and D. C. Allison, Matthew [ICC], 3:23).
[12:3] 4 tn The words “of you” have been supplied for clarity.
[12:3] 5 tn Or “to each as God has distributed a measure of faith.”
[12:6] 6 tn This word comes from the same root as “grace” in the following clause; it means “things graciously given,” “grace-gifts.”
[12:1] 7 tn Grk “brothers.” See note on the phrase “brothers and sisters” in 1:13.
[12:1] 8 tn The participle and two adjectives “alive, holy, and pleasing to God” are taken as predicates in relation to “sacrifice,” making the exhortation more emphatic. See ExSyn 618-19.
[4:11] 9 tn Grk “of the faith, the one [existing] in uncircumcision.”
[4:11] 10 tn Grk “that he might be,” giving the purpose of v. 11a.
