1 Kings 1:20-21

1:20 Now, ¹  my master, O king, all Israel is watching anxiously to see who is named to succeed my master the king on the throne. ²  1:21 If a decision is not made, ³  when my master the king is buried with his ancestors, ⁴  my son Solomon and I ⁵  will be considered state criminals.” ⁶

1:27 Has my master the king authorized this without informing your servants ⁷  who should succeed my master the king on his throne?” ⁸

1:33 and he ⁹  told them, “Take your master’s ¹⁰  servants with you, put my son Solomon on my mule, and lead him down to Gihon. ¹¹ 

[1:20]  ¹ tc Many Hebrew mss have עַתָּה (’attah, “now”) rather than the similar sounding independent pronoun אַתָּה (’attah, “you”).

[1:21]  ³ tn The words “if a decision is not made” are added for clarification.
