1:27 Has my master the king authorized this without informing your servants ¹  who should succeed my master the king on his throne?” ²

11:20 Tahpenes’ sister gave birth to his son, ³  named Genubath. Tahpenes raised ⁴  him in Pharaoh’s palace; Genubath grew up in Pharaoh’s palace among Pharaoh’s sons.

[1:27]  ¹ tc Many Hebrew mss and ancient textual witnesses agree with the Qere in reading this as singular, “your servant.”

[1:27]  ² tn Heb “From my master the king is this thing done, and you did not make known to your servants who will sit on the throne of my master the king after him?”

[11:20]  ³ tn Heb “bore him Genubath his son.”

[11:20]  ⁴ tc The Hebrew text reads וַתִּגְמְלֵהוּ (vattigmÿlehu, “weaned him”) but a slight alteration of the consonantal text yields וַתִּגְדְלֵהוּ (vattigdÿlehu, “raised him”), which seems to make better sense.
