1 Kings 1:48

1:48 and said ¹  this: ‘The Lord God of Israel is worthy of praise because ²  today he has placed a successor on my throne and allowed me to see it.’” ³ 

1 Kings 8:14-15

8:14 Then the king turned around ⁴  and pronounced a blessing over the whole Israelite assembly as they stood there. ⁵  8:15 He said, “The Lord God of Israel is worthy of praise because he has fulfilled ⁶  what he promised ⁷  my father David.

1 Kings 21:10

21:10 Also seat two villains opposite him and have them testify, ‘You cursed God and the king.’ Then take him out and stone him to death.”

[1:48]  ¹ tn The Hebrew text reads, “and the king said.”

[1:48]  ² tn Or “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who….” In this blessing formula אֲשֶׁר (’asher, “who; because”) introduces the reason why the one being blessed deserves the honor.
