• [Psa 103:13] Like As A Father

  When silent falls the gushing tear, O’er cheeks grown pale with care; And on the heart a cross is laid That seems too hard to bear, Remember what our Lord has said, And trust, in weal or woe, His holy Word, that changeth not, Though uttered years ago. Refrain “Like as a father pitieth His children, So the Lord pitieth them that fear Him, So the Lord pitieth them that fear Him.” When one by one our treasured hopes Like autumn leaves decay, And they who made our life most dear Are borne from us away, O look beyond the veil of time, Where springs of comfort flow, And trust His Word, that changeth not, Though uttered years ago.   The tender love a father has For all his children dear, Such love the Lord bestows on them Who worship Him in fear. The Lord remembers we are dust, And all our frailty knows; Man’s days are like the tender grass, And as the flower he grows. The flower is withered by the wind That smites with blighting breath; So man is quickly swept away Before the blast of death. Unchanging is the love of God, From age to age the same, Displayed to all who do His will And reverence His Name.   O Thou that hearest prayer, Attend our humble cry, And let Thy servants share Thy blessing from on high: We plead the promise of Thy Word; Grant us Thy Holy Spirit, Lord. If earthly parents hear Their children when they cry, If they, with love sincere, Their children’s wants supply, Much more wilt Thou Thy love display, And answer when Thy children pray. Our heavenly Father, Thou! We, children of Thy grace! O let Thy Spirit now Descend, and fill the place; That all may feel the heavenly flame, And all unite to praise Thy Name.
