1 Kings 2:28-30

2:28 When the news reached Joab (for Joab had supported ⁹  Adonijah, although he had not supported Absalom), he ¹⁰  ran to the tent of the Lord and grabbed hold of the horns of the altar. ¹¹  2:29 When King Solomon heard ¹²  that Joab had run to the tent of the Lord and was right there beside the altar, he ordered Benaiah son of Jehoiada, ¹³  “Go, strike him down.” 2:30 When Benaiah arrived at the tent of the Lord, he said to him, “The king says, ‘Come out!’” But he replied, “No, I will die here!” So Benaiah sent word to the king and reported Joab’s reply. ¹⁴ 

1 Kings 8:66

8:66 On the fifteenth day after the festival started, ¹⁵  he dismissed the people. They asked God to empower the king ¹⁶  and then went to their homes, happy and content ¹⁷  because of all the good the Lord had done for his servant David and his people Israel.

[8:4]  ² tn Heb “and they carried the ark of the Lord…. The priests and the Levites carried them.”

[12:16]  ³ sn We have no portion in David; no share in the son of Jesse. Their point seems to be that they have no familial relationship with David that brings them any benefits or places upon them any obligations. They are being treated like outsiders.

[12:16]  ⁴ tn Heb “to your tents, Israel.” The word “return” is supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[12:16]  ⁵ tn Heb “Now see your house, David.”

[12:16]  ⁶ tn Heb “went to their tents.”

[1:39]  ⁵ tn Heb “the horn of oil.” This has been specified as olive oil in the translation for clarity.
