Solomon Dedicates the Temple

8:62 The king and all Israel with him were presenting sacrifices to the Lord. 8:63 Solomon offered as peace offerings ¹  to the Lord 22,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep. Then the king and all the Israelites dedicated the Lord’s temple.

1 Kings 8:2

8:2 All the men of Israel assembled before King Solomon during the festival ²  in the month Ethanim ³  (the seventh month).

The Building of the Temple

6:1 In the four hundred and eightieth year after the Israelites left Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, during the month Ziv ⁴  (the second month), he began building the Lord’s temple.

1 Kings 16:1

16:1 Jehu son of Hanani received from the Lord this message predicting Baasha’s downfall: ⁵

[8:2]  ² sn The festival. This was the Feast of Tabernacles, see Lev 23:34.

[8:2]  ³ sn The month Ethanim. This would be September-October in modern reckoning.

[6:1]  ⁴ sn During the month Ziv. This would be April-May, 966 b.c. by modern reckoning.

[16:1]  ⁵ tn Heb “and the word of the Lord came to Jehu son of Hanani concerning [or “against”] Baasha, saying.”
