Solomon Dedicates the Temple

8:62 The king and all Israel with him were presenting sacrifices to the Lord.

1 Kings 11:8

11:8 He built high places for all his foreign wives so they could burn incense and make sacrifices to their gods. ¹

8:63 Solomon offered as peace offerings ²  to the Lord 22,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep. Then the king and all the Israelites dedicated the Lord’s temple.

1 Kings 1:19

1:19 He has sacrificed many cattle, steers, and sheep and has invited all the king’s sons, Abiathar the priest, and Joab, the commander of the army, but he has not invited your servant Solomon.

1 Kings 3:2-4

3:2 Now the people were offering sacrifices at the high places, ³  because in those days a temple had not yet been built to honor the Lord. ⁴  3:3 Solomon demonstrated his loyalty to the Lord by following ⁵  the practices ⁶  of his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.

3:4 The king went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices, for it had the most prominent of the high places. ⁷  Solomon would offer up ⁸  a thousand burnt sacrifices on the altar there.

1 Kings 1:9

1:9 Adonijah sacrificed sheep, cattle, and fattened steers at the Stone of Zoheleth near En Rogel. He invited all his brothers, the king’s sons, ⁹  as well as all the men of Judah, the king’s servants.

1 Kings 1:25

1:25 For today he has gone down and sacrificed many cattle, steers, and sheep and has invited all the king’s sons, the army commanders, and Abiathar the priest. At this moment ¹⁰  they are having a feast ¹¹  in his presence, and they have declared, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’ ¹²

13:2 With the authority of the Lord ¹⁴  he cried out against the altar, “O altar, altar! This is what the Lord says, ‘Look, a son named Josiah will be born to the Davidic dynasty. He will sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who offer sacrifices on you. Human bones will be burned on you.’” ¹⁵ 

1 Kings 19:21

19:21 Elisha ¹⁶  went back and took his pair of oxen and slaughtered them. He cooked the meat over a fire that he made by burning the harness and yoke. ¹⁷  He gave the people meat and they ate. Then he got up and followed Elijah and became his assistant.

1 Kings 22:43

22:43 He followed in his father Asa’s footsteps and was careful to do what the Lord approved. ¹⁸  (22:44) ¹⁹  However, the high places were not eliminated; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense on the high places.

1 Kings 12:32

12:32 Jeroboam inaugurated a festival on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, ²⁰  like the festival celebrated in Judah. ²¹  On the altar in Bethel he offered sacrifices to the calves he had made. ²²  In Bethel he also appointed priests for the high places he had made.
