[1:14]  1 tn Heb “Eli.” The pronoun (“he”) has been used in the translation in keeping with contemporary English style.

[14:47]  2 tn Heb “his,” which could refer to Israel or to Saul.

[14:47]  3 tc The translation follows the LXX (“he was delivered”), rather than the MT, which reads, “he acted wickedly.”
