Saul Is Rejected as King

15:1 Then Samuel said to Saul, “I was the one the Lord sent to anoint you as king over his people Israel. Now listen to what the Lord says. ¹ 

1 Samuel 15:24

15:24 Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I have disobeyed what the Lord commanded ²  and what you said as well. ³  For I was afraid of the army, and I followed their wishes. ⁴ 

1 Samuel 18:26

18:26 So his servants told David these things and David agreed ⁵  to become the king’s son-in-law. Now the specified time had not yet expired ⁶ 

1 Samuel 24:16

24:16 When David finished speaking these words to Saul, Saul said, “Is that your voice, my son David?” Then Saul wept loudly. ⁷
