Context

2:8 He lifts the weak 1  from the dust;

he raises 2  the poor from the ash heap

to seat them with princes

and to bestow on them an honored position. 3 

The foundations of the earth belong to the Lord,

and he has placed the world on them.

4:13 When he arrived in Shiloh, Eli was sitting in his chair watching by the side of 4  the road, for he was very worried 5  about the ark of God. As the man entered the city to give his report, 6  the whole city cried out.

4:18 When he mentioned the ark of God, Eli 7  fell backward from his chair beside the gate. He broke his neck and died, for he 8  was old and heavy. He had judged Israel for forty years.
