Solomon’s Wealth

1:14 Solomon accumulated ¹  chariots and horses. He had 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horses. He kept them in assigned cities and in Jerusalem. ² 

2 Chronicles 8:6

8:6 and built up Baalath, all the storage cities that belonged to him, ³  and all the cities where chariots and horses were kept. ⁴  He built whatever he wanted in Jerusalem, ⁵  Lebanon, and throughout his entire kingdom. ⁶ 

2 Chronicles 18:30-31

18:30 Now the king of Syria had ordered his chariot commanders, “Do not fight common soldiers or high ranking officers; ⁷  fight only the king of Israel!” 18:31 When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “He must be the king of Israel!” So they turned and attacked him, but Jehoshaphat cried out. The Lord helped him; God lured them away from him.

[1:14]  ² tn Heb “he placed them in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem.”

[8:6]  ³ tn Heb “Solomon.” The recurrence of the proper name is unexpected in terms of contemporary English style, so the pronoun has been used in the translation instead.
