13:8 Now you are declaring that you will resist the Lord’s rule through the Davidic dynasty. ¹  You have a huge army, ²  and bring with you the gold calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods.

2 Chronicles 20:15

20:15 He said: “Pay attention, all you people of Judah, ³  residents of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Don’t be afraid and don’t panic ⁴  because of this huge army! For the battle is not yours, but God’s.

2 Chronicles 25:14

25:14 When Amaziah returned from defeating the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the people ⁵  of Seir and made them his personal gods. ⁶  He bowed down before them and offered them sacrifices.

[13:8]  ² tn Or “horde”; or “multitude.”

[20:15]  ³ tn Heb “all Judah.” The words “you people of” are supplied in the translation for clarity. The Hebrew text uses the name “Judah” by metonymy for the people of Judah. Unlike the previous instance in v. 13 where infants, wives, and children are mentioned separately, this reference appears to include them all.

[20:15]  ⁴ tn Or perhaps “don’t get discouraged.”
