2 Chronicles 14:1

14:1 (13:23) ¹  Abijah passed away ²  and was buried in the City of David. ³  His son Asa replaced him as king. During his reign ⁴  the land had rest for ten years.

2 Chronicles 26:23

26:23 Uzziah passed away ⁵  and was buried near his ancestors ⁶  in a cemetery ⁷  belonging to the kings. (This was because he had a skin disease.) ⁸  His son Jotham replaced him as king.

2 Chronicles 32:33

32:33 Hezekiah passed away ⁹  and was buried on the ascent of the tombs of the descendants of David. All the people of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem buried him with great honor. ¹⁰  His son Manasseh replaced him as king.

[14:1]  ¹ sn Beginning with 14:1, the verse numbers through 14:15 in the English Bible differ from the verse numbers in the Hebrew text (BHS), with 14:1 ET = 13:23 HT, 14:2 ET = 14:1 HT, 14:3 ET = 14:2 HT, etc., through 14:15 ET = 14:14 HT. Beginning with 15:1 the verse numbers in the ET and HT are again the same.

[14:1]  ³ sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.

[26:23]  ⁶ tn Heb “fathers.”

[26:23]  ⁷ tn Heb “a field of burial.”

[32:33]  ⁹ tn Heb “lay down with his fathers.”

[32:33]  ¹⁰ tn Heb “and honor they did to him in his death, all Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.”
