16:7 At that time Hanani the prophet 1  visited King Asa of Judah and said to him: “Because you relied on the king of Syria and did not rely on the Lord your God, the army of the king of Syria has escaped from your hand.

2 Chronicles 24:23-24

Context

24:23 At the beginning 2  of the year the Syrian army attacked 3  Joash 4  and invaded Judah and Jerusalem. They wiped out all the leaders of the people and sent all the plunder they gathered to the king of Damascus. 24:24 Even though the invading Syrian army was relatively weak, the Lord handed over to them Judah’s very large army, 5  for the people of Judah 6  had abandoned the Lord God of their ancestors. The Syrians 7  gave Joash what he deserved. 8
