[31:7]  1 tn Heb “they began the heaps, to establish.”

[7:1]  1 tn Or “the sky.” The Hebrew term שָׁמַיִם (shamayim) may be translated “heaven(s)” or “sky” depending on the context.

[8:8]  1 tn Heb “from their sons who were left after them in the land, whom the sons of Israel did not wipe out, and Solomon raised them up for a work crew to this day.”

[20:23]  1 tn Heb “the sons of Ammon and Moab stood against the residents of Mount Seir.”

[20:23]  2 tn Heb “to annihilate and to destroy.”

[20:23]  3 tn Heb “residents.”

[20:23]  4 tn Heb “they helped, each one his fellow, for destruction.” The verb עָזַר (’azar), traditionally understood as the well-attested verb meaning “to help,” is an odd fit in this context. It is possible that it is from a homonymic root, perhaps meaning to “attack.” This root is attested in Ugaritic in a nominal form meaning “young man, warrior, hero.” For a discussion of the proposed root, see HALOT 811 s.v. II עזר.

[31:1]  1 tn Heb “all Israel.”

[31:1]  2 tn Or “tore down.”

[31:1]  3 tn Heb “the high places and the altars from all Judah and Benjamin and in Ephraim and in Manasseh until finished.”

[31:1]  4 tn Heb “and the sons of Israel returned, each to his possession to their cities.”

[4:11]  1 tn Heb “Huram,” but here this refers to Huram Abi (2 Chr 2:13). The complete name has been used in the translation to avoid possible confusion with King Huram of Tyre.

[4:11]  2 tn Heb “Huram finished doing all the work which he did for King Solomon [on] the house of God.”

[7:11]  1 tn Heb “and all that entered the heart of Solomon to do in the house of the Lord and in his house he successfully accomplished.”

[29:17]  1 tn Heb “porch of the Lord.”

[29:34]  1 tn Heb “the burnt sacrifices.”

[29:34]  2 tn Heb “for the Levites were more pure of heart to consecrate themselves than the priests.”

[36:22]  1 tn The words “the reign of” are supplied in the translation for clarification.

[36:22]  2 tn Heb “to complete the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah.”

[36:22]  3 tn Heb “stirred the spirit of.”
